Monthly Message from your District Governor

Hello everyone:

Well, we survived another summer.  I hope it was a great one.  By the time you read this letter, CST/PDG Don and I will have already started our visitations.  Thanks to some of you, what with the cookouts and everything else, I have already started to put on the District Governor pounds.

It's hard to put into words, the excitement I feel, serving as your Governor.  I'm so looking forward to this Lion year and with such enthusiasm.  I'm looking forward to working with each and everyone of you towards our main purpose of "helping those less fortunate".  I'm looking forward to making a difference in other people's lives who depend so much on the Lions' efforts and I'm looking forward to Helen Keller's goal of furthering the educating and importance of eye research.

As I look back on my 24+ years as a lion, I think of all the good that we, as lions, have done since out inception but how few people realize our efforts.  As I mentioned in my earlier address to you, I would like to see us go back into our communities, not only for the involvement, but to re-introduce ourselves let everyone know the good that we have done, the so many lives we have touched, the differences we have made in the world in helping those less fortunate .and so much more.  In short, I don't want us to be the best kept secret in town anymore.

As I also mentioned earlier, Vice-District Governor Joe Rizzo, CST/PDG Don Hebert and myself, have assembled a GREAT team to work along with you, but we can only help you with problems that we are made aware of.  Please feel free to contact anyone of us if you need any help with anything and please make full use of you Region Chairman-at-Large Ed Olney as well as all your Region and Zone chairpersons (that's why they make the big bucks).

Thanks for taking time to read this message.  Thanks for all your hard work and volunteer time and thanks for making District 33S the best and hardest working district in Massachusetts.

   See you on the trail.

                                                      Skip Becotte

                                                      District Governor

September 9th, 16th, 23rd      Easton Lions Club

HOLIDAY FESTIVAL DECORATIONS WORK PARTY

 DECORATIONS WANTED.

The Easton Lions are going to have two working parties to improve and add decorations for the Holiday Festival.

Volunteers are needed for Saturday September 9, Saturday September 16 and Saturday September 23 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (or maybe later, depending how good we are)

Every year the Easton Lions Club runs the Holiday Festival in the Town of Easton.  It is our gift, as part of our goals and philosophy of community service, to provide this Festival each year.  We are now in our 20th year of organizing and decorating the Rockery and areas in front of Oakes Ames Memorial Hall and the Library to bring holiday spirit to middle of town and delight to the faces of our children, young and old.

Specifically, we would use this opportunity to refurbish some of the “houses” in which there are animated figures that delight the children.  These houses need a variety of repairs, from new roofs to new wallpaper etc.

DISTRICT 33S

PRESIDENTS AND SECRETARIES

To kick off the new year, I will be holding a Region meeting at the Berkley Lions Club, Olde Town Hall, 2 N Main St., Berkley.  The meeting will be on Monday night 9/11/06   at 7:00 pm.

This is for Presidents and Secretaries of District 33S Clubs.  We will have a round table discussion about any concerns, or help you may need or suggestions to make things better.  I would like representation from all the clubs, as input from the strong clubs will help the weak clubs.

We will only have soda, water and light snacks.  The District Governor has recommended this meeting and I think it’s a great idea.  I look forward to seeing you all there.

Region Chairperson

Bob Coluci

18th Annual WALK-ALONG at Scusset Beach

We are proud to say that 100% of the monies pledged will go directly to Mass Lions Eye

Research for distribution.

We will be starting our Saturday morning early set up for our 8:30 am registration.  The day will be full of fun, food, and activities.  Our own “DJ” will keep the day moving with groovy tunes.  There will be clowns working with the crowd through the day.  Face painting, kid’s games, and activities are available all the day.  Busy Bee Jumpers will be on hand all day for kids and adults alike.  The “Wheels of Time” will again please the crowd with their vintage cars and have their 50/50 raffle.  And, of course, a walk or ride along the beautiful Cape Cod Canal.  The Rosemary McCampbell Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the Club that raises the most money for Eye research.  The top club last year was Rockland!  Can your club beat them this year?

The day will be full of fun for both young, older and those that are young at heart.
