Monthly Message from your District Governor
Hello everyone:
I'm looking out the window and I see that the frost is on the pumpkin (and other places) and that means that we are approaching the half-way mark of this lionistic year. CST/PDG Don and I are well underway with our visitations and all seems to be going well. Thank you so much for the hospitality you have shown us and for being so receptive to our messages.
Rather than go further and share my usual words of wisdom with you, I thought I'd touch on a few important areas that will be coming up in the District. Remember that the Mid-Winter Conference is fast approaching and the rooms are going fast. It is obviously going to be a sell out so don't be left out in the cold. Get your applications in ASAP. The theme is the Al Capone/Roaring 20's era. PDG Kathy Amaral advised everyone to bring a bib to allow for the "contracts" put out on people in the interest of eye research. Also, don't forget your donations. Donation amounts will be announced and the candidates brunch on Sunday morning. As usual, the conference will be held on Martin Luther King weekend, January 12, 13 and 14, 2007.
Please remember that VDG Joe Rizzo has a fund raiser coming up. It cost a lot of money to be Vice District Governor so let's get behind Joe. All donations will be graciously accepted.
Another huge tip of the hat to PDG Betty and Lion Ken for a great job on the Annual Walk-A-Long. It was another huge success. A special thanks to the Acushnet Lions Club for keeping me and Sarah up so late on Saturday night at the walk-a-long.
Thanks to each and everyone one of you for all your hard work this year. Your co-operation is really making a difference. A special tip of the hat to all the hard working Zone and Region Chairpersons and to Region Chairman at large Ed Olney. Without them we could not have reached all the goals we have achieved thus far.
Yours in Lionism,
Skip Becotte
District Governor
District 33S MID-WINTER AD BOOK
Just a reminder for the Mid-Winter Ad Book. Please get them to Lion Art Westgate or Lion Barbara Otto as soon as possible so that the Ad Book can be completed in plenty of time for the Mid Winter Conference. Let’s show DG Skip our support and place an Ad.
Remember ALL AD’S for
your Clubs are as follows:
Full Page $140.00
Half Page $ 85.00
Quarter Page $ 50.00
Sponsor $ 25.00
To clear up the confusion about the OUTSIDE Ads consider them as an Additional Fundraiser for your club to earn some extra monies for your Administration Account.
Example: If your club were to get an OUTSIDE AD, such as your company, yourself or any business or organization that would like to advertise in our Mid Winter Ad Book, your club then will get a or bonus for your Administration Account as follows. Maybe some businesses would like to offer a coupon with their ad that can be cut out of the Ad Book. This could be a very nice money maker for clubs Administration Account.
Outside Ad Placed:
Charge for Full Page $140.00 Bonus for your club $30.00
Charge for Half Page $ 85.00 Bonus for your club $20.00
Charge for Quarter Page $ 50.00 Bonus for your club $10.00
Charge for Sponsor $ 25.00 Bonus for your club $ 5.00
The full charge for the Outside AD must accompany the AD along with the name of the club placing it. The Bonus monies will be sent to clubs after the Mid Winter Conference.
Any questions please contact:
Art Westgate at Klionart@yahoo.com or Barbara Otto at lionbotto@aol.com

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DISTRICT 33S
November 28th
District 33S
Join District 33S Lions
Visit the PERKINS School for the Blind
The annual excursion to visit a recipient of funding from the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, Inc. will be held on Tuesday November 28, 2006, departing at 6:00 p m from the park and ride lot at Rtes 24 and 106. We will travel by bus to the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown for a light dinner and tour of their impressive facilities (where Helen Keller was schooled). We will return by about 10:00 p m. (Caution: the program will be held on the second floor and no elevator is available). The cost is $20.00 per person, including dinner, the bus, and refreshments enroute. Any excess funds are contributed to MLERFI.
Perkins was chosen at the request of past participants in our tours, which have gone to the B U Medical Center, the Schepens Eye Research Institute, the Joslin Diabetes Research Center and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. These visits are designed to familiarize Lions with the incredible eye- and vision-related research facilities in Massachusetts that have made this area one of the world's leading centers for this work. The Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund has been pivotal in this growth by providing seed money for whole host of research projects that have matured into major advances in the prevention and treatment of blindness and eye diseases.
If you'd like to join us, send a check for $20.00 per person to Lion Carl Johannesen,
35 Randall, N. Easton, MA 02356.
Come and see what how your hard work and some of the money you raise is being used to benefit the blind in our society!
