Monthly Message from your District Governor
Greetings to all of you and I hope you're all having a great summer.
Well, we all survived the International Convention in Boston. If I tried to thank all of you who volunteered, I would certainly leave someone's name off the list, so I just give a big, heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who helped make this the largest and best International Convention in recent memory.
I made a lot of new friends and renewed old friendships but I also left Boston with an enthusiasm that this will be one of our District's finest hours. International President Jim Ross has set some goals that are ambitious yet attainable. One of Lions International's main projects this year will be Campaign Sight First II and our renewed efforts in raising funds for eye research.
We are also re-introducing Lionism throughout the world and making a concerted effort to better educate the public on our existence, our goal’s and objectives, and it is along these lines that I would like to give a personal message to all of you. I feel that we have to go back to our communities and try and get more involved with them. They, after all, are our lifeline, and without our communities, we would have difficulty surviving. We rely on the members of our communities to assist us in furthering our goals, and I hope that we can return the favors and show them that we also care about their efforts.
I have high hopes for our success this year. District 33S is not only the largest district in Massachusetts, but is the front runner in eye research and other donations. We are the yardstick by which other districts are measured, and this has always been accomplished through dedication and hard work. Working together, we have always. "Made a Difference.” Vice District Governor Joe Rizzo, Cabinet Secretary-Treasurer Don Hebert and I have assembled a great cabinet and we have already started working hard to make this a great year. We held our first voting cabinet meeting in Dighton and many plans and goals were outlined. We will be contacting each and every one of you about our first cabinet advisory meeting later in the summer and we will be looking for help and ideas from all of you.
Please enjoy the rest of your summer and please make plans to make this our best year ever.
Yours in Lionism
Skip Becotte, District Governor
