Monthly Message from your District Governor

To My Friends in Lionism

April is a very important Month for Lions.  New Officers are chosen and elected. PU 101 are due to International and to District by April 15, 2005.  It would also be a good Idea to send a list of all incoming officers, Name, Address, Telephone numbers and e-mail addresses that you would like to appear in next years directories.  Please look over your Club information that appears in this years Directory.  If any of the information is incorrect please send it off to VDG George Hart or to CST Designate Joe Rizzo.

VDG George Hart e-mail  sevenhart@msn.com   and CSTD Joe Rizzo e-mail is cindyriz@mindspring.com. Also do them a favor and use the word LION in the Subject of your e-mail, it will help them weed out the bad e-mails.

          Yours in Lionism

                      Don Hebert, District Governor

Message from Gretchen Olney, President

District 33S Hearing Foundation

On behalf of the members of the Hearing Foundation I want to thank the clubs for the Mid Winter donations of money and hearing aids.  I would like to remind clubs and members who may be submitting an application that if the individual is going to get a new hearing aid we need to have both our Application and the Income Verification Form from Lions International completed and submitted.  We are in the process of making one document, but until that is out to the clubs we do need both applications.  We are very grateful and appreciative for all your contributions.

May 8th   Mansfield Lions Club        Welcome Mansfield to the Newsletter

On Saturday May 8th the Mansfield Lions Club will hold its ANNUAL PENNY SALE at the Qualters Middle School, East Street, Mansfield.  This is our largest and most important fundraiser of the year and provides the funds to sponsor our scholarships, our local service projects, Mass Eye Research, LCIF and several other charities.  It is a time tested evening of fun, good treats to eat, excitement and Prizes, Prizes, Prizes.

Here is how it works.  The auditorium is loaded with hundreds of prizes and gifts for home, patio, garden, personal beauty, etc. and the audience buys tickets for 2 cents each.  When the gift prize that has caught you fancy goes up on the block you submit as many tickets as you wish to increase your chances of winning.  All the tickets are tumbled together and the winners are announced.  All prizes are awarded that night and there is laughter and excited squealing all the time.  A grand super prize of a 32 inch COLOR TV is awarded as a separate raffle.  1 ticket for $1 or a book of 6 for $5.  Intermission provides a chance for refreshing drinks or homemade cookies, cupcakes, brownies and snacks.  A great time is had by all and the prizes are truly worthwhile.  Come join us and see what an old fashioned evening of great fun and prizes is all about.  Contact President Sandra Levine for any questions at 508-339-8474 or you can e mail her at  s_levine@email.msn.com
