Message From DISTRICT GOVERNOR

Two years ago as I began my term as Cabinet Secretary
Treasurer, I said that there were three things that really impressed me about
Lions: First and foremost is their
commitment of service, at the local, district, state, national or international
levels. Second is the spirit of
volunteerism of our time, efforts, and talents.
Finally, it is the bond that all Lions have for each other. After two years of visiting clubs within our
District, those words have more meaning for me today. The traits of District 33S Lions, as
demonstrated by their spirit of service and commitment to helping those less
fortunate than themselves, make me truly proud to be a part of such a great
organization.
I
consider it an honor and privilege to serve as your District Governor for the
2007-2008 Lions year and look forward to a challenging and exciting year. This year’s International Theme is Challenge to Change, a
theme I believe we need and must embrace.
The greatest challenge we face is adapting to a changing world and
society, remaining relevant and determining how to attract and retain new
members with different lifestyles.
Meeting
this challenge can occur from the top down, but lasting and meaningful change
starts at the club level. Whether it be
at the district or club level, we must examine what we are doing, determine if
it is still relevant, discard projects or activities that are no longer
relevant; and adopt new programs, procedures, fund raisers and community
activities that portray Lions at their finest and are directed at serving those
less fortunate than ourselves. We must
also be willing to advertise and promote our organization, try new ideas, be
more family conscious, be innovative in all our activities, and have fun along
the way. I urge all clubs to take up
this challenge.
At
the District Level, we are committed to change in the hope of serving the clubs
so that they may better serve their members and their communities. For example, the MERL Team has been
restructured, the District has been restructured and we have also added new
positions in the hope of better assisting clubs. I am pleased
to be working with VDG Nolan Rozzelle, CS Joyce Middleton and CT Bob Coluci and
know they will be great assets to our District.
It
promises to be an exciting and interesting year. Ambitious?
Perhaps. But by taking up the Challenge to Change, it also has
the potential of raising our district to higher levels of excellence than we
have ever achieved. I am here to serve
you during the coming year and am interested in hearing your ideas on how we
can reach these new heights.
Cynthia
and I look forward to meeting with you during the coming year and wish you all
a productive and happy new Lions year.
Yours in Lionism,
Joseph “Joe” Rizzo
District Governor
MESSAGE FROM
VICE DISTRICT GOVERNOR

NOLAN ROZZELLE
I would like to thank all the Lions of District 33-S
for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Vice District Governor this
coming year. District Governor Joe has put together an outstanding team for
2007-2008 and I am very proud to be part of it.
I
along with Lion Floran look forward to serving with all of the Lions in our
great District. We will be working together to achieve the goals of
District Governor Joe. Lion Floran and I will also be available to help any
club which may need our assistance.
Yours in Lionism
Nolan Rozzelle
Vice District Governor

CABINET SECRETARY
JOYCE MIDDLETON
It is a great honor and privilege to have been invited
by District Governor Joe to share in his “year of service” to all the Lions,
Lioness, and Leos of District 33S as the 2007-2008 Cabinet Secretary. I am looking forward to a year filled with
new opportunities, new friends, and new challenges as I accompany DG Joe to
your many club meetings and events.
Being
of service to others is a family affair in our home. My husband, RC Martin, and
I are proud to be a part of the enthusiastic, talented, and dedicated team of
Lions that Governor Joe has brought together. We look forward to working alongside
all of you in achieving all our Lionistic goals, both locally and
globally.
Thank
you for your continued diligence in meeting the due dates for report filing; it
aids greatly in a smooth running district.
If I may be of assistance to you in anyway please don’t hesitate to
contact me.
I
am here to serve – Not above you, Not beneath you, but with you ...
Yours in Lionism,
Joyce Middleton
Cabinet Secretary

CABINET TREASURER
ROBERT “BOB” COLUCI
I am looking forward to serving the District as your
Cabinet Treasurer. I have known District
Governor Joe for a long time and plan to help him achieve all his goals. I will work closely with the District Cabinet
to make sure we interface with all the clubs.
Governor Joe and I will be visiting clubs and hope to be able to answer
all your questions and requests. It will
be a pleasure to meet you all.
We
hope each club will generously donate to Mass Lions Eye Research, District
Lions projects, as well as your own donation groups. Please make sure all your club dues are paid
and reports submitted on time. This will
help make the district run smoothly and keep us informed.
Governor
Joe has some great ideas to make our district better and I hope you will
support him to achieve them. I know the
year will end with our district being better than when we started.
Once again I will be
available should you need me. Good Luck
to you all and have a great year.
Yours in Lionism,
Robert Coluci
Cabinet Treasurer
