Special Message From DG Ray Hebert
To the Lions and Leos of District 33-S
Lion Judy and I would like to thank all of you for affording us the honor and privilege as serving as your District Governor and Partner in Service for this Lionistic year 2009-2010. We promise to dedicate ourselves to you and to this district and do best job that we possibly can.
Webster's dictionary defines a philosophy as "the most basic belief, concept, and attitude of an individual." My philosophy of the position of District Governor is this. It is my duty to find and create a District Cabinet consisting of people who are willing to give of their time, expertise, and efforts to make District 33-S the best organization of its kind. Once I have done that, it is my duty to "let them do their jobs as they see fit" and get out of the way. I believe that we have that kind of Cabinet with over fifty quality people willing to do what they can to make this year a great one.
Our District has done some fine work in the last few years in the area of extension. Six new clubs have been chartered in the last three years thereby bringing our total clubs to fifty five. As Governor, I hope to continue the trend started by my predecessors PDGs Joe and Nolan and hope to start at least two new clubs this year. It is also my sincere belief that the concept of the Zone Meeting is very important. Your Zone Chairpersons have pledged to have three zone meetings each during this coming year.
This is also a year of new responsibilities. We now have two Vice District Governors, each with prescribed duties that they have pledged to handle. No Governor could be more blessed than I to have 1st VDG Joyce and 2nd VDG Steve working with me as part of my team. I am also fortunate to have David Barbour as my Secretary-Treasurer this year. I have never met a Lion who is more competent and dedicated than Lion Dave
In closing, I am asking that every club president, every secretary, and every member of every club help Lion Judy and me, try to make this year one of the best years in our District's history. I know that we can all do this. Remember that there is always "Room to Grow."

Yours in Lionism

District Governor
